A peak into the Ice Age: Athabasca Glacier

This glacier is now 3.7 miles long, 2.3 square miles wide and 300-980 feet thick.   It may sound pretty huge, but sadly it’s shrinking quite dramatically.  It is currently receding at a rate of 6.6-9.8 feet per year.  Here is an idea below of the shrinkage since 1982 (my birthyear;o)

Danger:  watch out for the crevasses!!
