Lodge at The Stanley in Estes Park, CO

I recently took a short road trip from Denver to finally visit Rocky Mountain National Park and was able to relax and spend the afternoon in Estes Park.  Stanley Hotel also hosted the horror novelist Stephen King and inspired him to write The Shining.  Although the mini series was filmed here, the actual movie was filmed at another resort hotel, the Timberline Lodge in Oregon–another amazing lodge I stumbled upon last fall.photo 2 (12) photo 1 (11) AKA Hotel Danbury in Dumb and Dumberphoto 4 (12) photo 5 (8)The “Stanley Film Festival” of horror photo 3 (12)
