Only two things went wrong on our first trip together during our 8 days in Colombia, South America: mice men Mice and men made for more entertaining stories on this trip.  I am getting to the mice on this post; bad men will come into play in Medellin. Let’s begin with what went right, choosing…

Pfeiffer Beach: Home of the Purple Sand

Pfeiffer Beach at Pfeiffer State Park in Big Sur is a beautiful and unique sight.  The parking lot was full, so I took the free route parking on the highway opting for the 3 mile trek down the beach road.  Not far down the road, a friendly older couple from the east coast stopped to offer a…

Point Lobos

After breakfast in Carmel we headed to Point Lobos.  Point Lobos is a beautiful state park found in between Carmel and Big Sur. We trekked the entirety of it along the coastline witnessing many sea otters, sea lions, and seals sunning and napping on the rocks or rolling around playing in the water.

Breakfast in Carmel by-the-Sea

I woke up at the crack of dawn to get my first view of Carmel in the daytime and what a sight it was.  My balcony had a magically delightful ocean view!  I brought my book out (which I never opened) and a cup of coffee to accompany me, but I just couldn’t take my eyes…

Oktoberfests–Tahoe style

I think he could handle one that big if he could just get it off the ground enough to tilt it down the hatch.  Here is where we enjoyed a bite to eat for lunch and a nice German beer while sharing a picnic table with some friendly locals. Oktoberfest number 2 of the day…

Welcome to TRUCKEE

This town is so rad! Coffeebar is the most popular coffee shop in town with a nice crowd inside and out.   Donner Lake was so serene and gorgeous on our stroll along the beach.  We also enjoyed gawking at the outstanding million dollar homes and cabins encircling the lake. High up on the hill…

Sea shells, sea shells, by the sea shore

Sandpipers just crossing paths, dee dee dee dee…. I enjoyed watching this little green anole lizard on the lookout for a female.  I could differentiate it from a female, because of his dewlap–the hangy thing on his neck–was a reddish pink; the female dewlap is white.  This physical mechanism is then fanned out to attract a…
