Pfeiffer Beach: Home of the Purple Sand

Pfeiffer Beach at Pfeiffer State Park in Big Sur is a beautiful and unique sight.  The parking lot was full, so I took the free route parking on the highway opting for the 3 mile trek down the beach road.  Not far down the road, a friendly older couple from the east coast stopped to offer a…

Yoga in a Yurt and More…

This is my first morning and full day to be here in Big Sur, and I certainly started it out right!  I woke up before sunrise and walked the entire area in my robe and slippers with my big camera in tow.  This early bird got all the worms.  I saw the sunrise over the…

Twilight over Big Sur at Post Ranch

I woke up before sunrise (as I did every morning–to my surprise–on this trip) and went out on the balcony to experience the best views of the mountains.  Then I took a magical walk to see all the unique cabins and the changing colors of the sky over the sea.  Not a creature was stirring, not even…

First Day at Post Ranch Inn

We were greeted by three lovely deer upon arrival into Post Ranch around mid afternoon on Friday. We were also greeted with bottomless Prosecco once we reached the main lodge at check in.  I especially appreciated that and the over sized POST RANCH branded pumpkin. Great first impression of our cabin!  I couldn’t wait to…

Noshing in Nashville

I know I wrote about some of my experiences eating in Nashville, but this one is a bit more elaborate and detailed about the food.  Honestly, I didn’t mean to write two, but I’m writing a wrong here and just going to leave both redundant posts:) The Patterson House is an exclusive gem located just…

Point Lobos

After breakfast in Carmel we headed to Point Lobos.  Point Lobos is a beautiful state park found in between Carmel and Big Sur. We trekked the entirety of it along the coastline witnessing many sea otters, sea lions, and seals sunning and napping on the rocks or rolling around playing in the water.

Breakfast in Carmel by-the-Sea

I woke up at the crack of dawn to get my first view of Carmel in the daytime and what a sight it was.  My balcony had a magically delightful ocean view!  I brought my book out (which I never opened) and a cup of coffee to accompany me, but I just couldn’t take my eyes…

Neder Nederland

You’ll find a treasure if you stay there… A breathtaking drive on the way to the trail head    The trail to Crater Lakes – James Peak Wilderness Follow Crater Lakes Trail as it climbs steeply for a mile and crosses the narrow spit of land between the two main lakes.  We took a 6 mile trail because…

Out and about in Denver

We were headed to Sassafras (located just near Mile High Stadium) but realized it was Broncos game day so rerouted to Jezebel’s Southern Bistro and Bar to experience this delightful surprise.  I have to say this is my first time to be served in a personal sized cast iron skillet and it was wonderful.  This…

Boulder and Brews

After our hike up in Nederland, we picked up Frank in Boulder and check out the new Avery Brewing Company.  I love Frank’s house, especially his heated pool and his dog Hazel (she appreciates the pool as well).  He offered to share his local beer collection too!  After one post hike beer and collecting all…
